Oh, Sheet.

One of my favorite things, especially now that I'm old and decrepit, (no, you can't convince me otherwise for at least another month when the shock wears off) is snuggling into our soft soft bed. When I was about six months pregnant with the twins and cursing a damaged back, my mom took pity on me and got us a Tempurpedic. Since then, I haven't had one day of being unable to walk because of back pain- I don't think that's a coincidence. Another thing she gave us was an old set of the softest sheets I've ever felt. Every time I put them through the wash I crossed my fingers that they'd make it through okay, but ultimately it wasn't the wash that took them down.

Our feet finally wore holes through the fitted bottom sheet, and when they got so gigantic I started getting stuck, (the holes- not our feet- although we do have some pretty huge feet) I decided we had to give it up. It became mummy wrappings for our Egypt theme in preschool. I've been on the lookout for a replacement set ever since. For at least two months now, I've been in the linen section of every supermarket of Columbus, but just haven't been able to bring myself to spend $40 on a 250 threadcount set of sheets.

Providence smiled and dropped a sheet vendor about three minutes from our house. They set up their tent and signs "Egyptian Cotton 1000 thread count sheets $38.00"

Now I have to admit- I have no way of verifying that these sheets I just bought are really Egyptian cotton or even if they're even 1000 thread count. They aren't as soft as the sheet I just turned into a mummy. But they are much softer and 10 times prettier than the sets I was seeing at the store for the same price, so I'm happy.

I kept my eyes out at dept store that were going out of business(Schottensteins) and I got us really nice soft sheets at a fraction of the cost. The other way is to go to the dept store outlets(jcpenney outlet is by the church). The bad thing about these really soft sheets is that our heels wear through them a lot quicker! Next time I see a deal like it I will call you

They look like great sheets to me. I've always wondered about those little stands selling sheets. Hope they make you happy.

I bet they'll get softer with more washings! My new sheets have.

If you decide to splurge on a second set (I myself NEED two right now--one to wash copious amounts of spit up off of and one to have on the bed), I found some great deals on Overstock.com!

Smooth sheets REALLY do make a difference...

Here's hoping these Egyptian sheets last until Mia is ready for another ancient civilizations unit. In Utah they appear in the curriculum in 6th grade so you've got awhile to wear holes in them.

Congratulations on the new sheets! ;-)

I won't say anything to make you feel bad about your purchase - I don't know 1-count sheets from 1000-count sheets!

Enjoy!! :-)

I love sheets and I can't seem to find the right ones anymore. I use to like the ones with the cotton poly blend, but now you can only find cotton and I hate how they feel. I can't afford the super nice ones either...those probably would be devine.

Oh I love getting new sheets!!! If I could afford it, I would get 5 sets just to switch out for fun!

Good sheets are wonderful! Jason and I received som Egyptian Cotton knit sheets for our wedding that I just love. At first, I didn't like that the top sheet didn't stay put like woven sheets but the softness and comfort were so wonderful that I became converted. They are fabulous for summertime because they are cooler (I also love my flannel sheets in the winter).
I learned that watermelon tip in a foods class here at BYU but I have yet to perfect my application of it. Hopefully, I will have plenty of chances to practice this summer.
